Opgedoekt is a homeless cinema roaming the streets of Utrecht, searching for a new unconventional location to transform into a temporary cinema. Opgedoekt screens films that deserve to be seen and little gems that have not made it to the big screen. The unique location serves as the inspiration for the program.
From 2020 on: Motel Opgedoekt
With our brand new concept Motel Opgedoekt we show films during multiple days at one location in Utrecht. We transform known and less known places of the city into temporary cinemas. Films are screened for a weekend, a couple of weeks or even several months. Check out the upcoming Motel Opgedoekt.
The Opgedoekt-editions 2014-2019
From 2014-2019, Opgedoekt organized 10 editions with a fixed concept. The film title remained unknown, just as the location was unannounced before the day of screening. Fixed elements of the program were a live soundtrack performed by a local musician or band to a short film, followed by an explicateur introducing the main feature-length film and not unimportant: popcorn in special flavours made by Maïstro.
